Gah, how can this be a year ago already?! Seniors, make sure you get in line early to get a picture with Alma.

It’s the final stretch! My newsfeed tells me that the next round of MechSE seniors have officially survived senior design. On that note, CONGRATULATIONS! It’s hard to believe that I was giving my presentation a year ago already. It’s funny because (at least for me) it seemed like ME470 was inescapable; it was all I ever worked on or worried about. But now, all of that seems like a distant memory and I actually look back on ME470 fondly, it was a great experience (even if you didn’t always feel that way at the time.) So once again, congrats MechSE seniors!

I guess that means graduation is coming up shortly too, which is also even more unbelievable because it means that I graduated a year ago. That doesn’t even seem possible. It goes by so fast! I haven’t had the chance to go back to campus since graduating and it feels weird. I see friends getting to go back and visit and it’s weird to have been away from campus for so long and I’m itching to go back, but since the end of the school year also means finals (one of the things I DON’T miss), I’ll try to keep my nostalgia to myself and make this short and sweet.

Class of 2016, congratulations on making it to the end! Savor every last minute of being on campus and good luck on the next leg of your journey. You’re an Illini (and a MechSE!) so I know you’ll be great.

Younger MechSEs, you’ll be there soon! I have the same advice for you. Even if it doesn’t always feel like it, your time on campus is going to fly by and you’ll be walking across that stage before you know it. Enjoy every minute it.

Good luck on finals everyone. I hope you all have an awesome summer!

Don't forget to say hello to Grainger Bob too. At least on the bright side, despite what this picture makes it look like, his line is actually a bit shorter.
