PhD candidate Jiu (Joe) Xu earned an Excellence in Oral Presentation Award for his presentation in April at the 2018 WCX SAE World Congress Experience—one of the biggest academic-industry conferences on automotive engineering.

In his presentation, "Flow Visualization and Experimental Measurement of Compressor Oil Separator," Xu talked about his research on compressor oil separation, which aims to provide an innovative approach to studying oil separation phenomenon in compressors. Xu’s research is the first to visualize the oil separation process under realistic compressor operating conditions.

Xu’s advisor, Professor Pega Hrnjak, encouraged him to attend the conference. “I really appreciate his support for the project and presentation.”
