- International Study
MechSE students have a wide variety of opportunities for international study, research and internships. Undergraduate students can take advantage of the University's many study abroad programs, while graduate students may find that their studies open doors to unique education and research opportunities around the globe.
Illinois ranks 5th nationally in study-abroad participation and is the only U.S. institution of higher education ranking in the top 10 in the three key metrics of international education: international student enrollment, total number of study-abroad students, and the number of federally funded Title VI National Resource Centers for international and area studies. In 2008, Illinois won the Senator Paul Simon Award for Campus Internationalization presented by NAFSA: Association of International Educators.
