Seminars
Through MechSE's lively seminar programs, students and faculty in this and other departments can hear leading national and international scholars talk about their work nearly every day of the week during the fall and spring semesters. Our programs include:
- MechSE Seminar Series, taking place throughout the academic year and featuring a wide range of topics, from applied math and biology to nanotechnology and robotics.
- Distinguished Lecture series, including the Yunchuan Aisinjioro-Soo Distinguished Lecture and Alwin Schaller Distinguished Lecture, which take place in the fall, and the Arthur Newell Talbot Distinguished Lecture, which takes place in the spring.
- Midwest Mechanics Seminar, a cooperative venture that brings renowned researchers in solid and fluid mechanics, computational mechanics and other mechanics areas to 10 Midwestern campuses: Northwestern, Notre Dame, Illinois Institute of Technology, University of Illinois, Purdue, Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa State, University of Wisconsin and University of Minnesota.
- Special interest seminars, including the Bio-Interest Group (BIG) Seminars and the Fluid Mechanics Seminar Series, facilitate the exchange of ideas on focused topics.
Lectures offered through the MechSE Seminar Series, Distinguished Lecture Series and Midwest Mechanics Seminar may be applied toward the requirements of ME 590.
