Research Assistant Professor Stefan Elbel recently received a best paper award at the IIR International Congress of Refrigeration in Montreal, Quebec, Canada (ICR 2019).

In 2016, Elbel and his former doctoral student, Dr. Neal Lawrence, wrote an invited review paper, “Review of recent developments in advanced ejector technology” for the International Journal of Refrigeration (IJR). The ICR, held every four years and organized in collaboration with the IJR, presented awards for Best Papers and Most Commended Paper published in each of the previous five years. Elbel and Lawrence’s work won this top honor for 2016. Recognitions are based on number of downloads, scientific relevance, and quality of work.

In 2018, this paper had also been named the most cited Elsevier article over the previous three years.

The research was supported by MechSE’s Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Center (ACRC).
