MechSE alumnus Robert “Bob” Wilhelm (PhD ME ’92) has been named as the next Vice Chancellor for Research and Economic Development at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Prior to beginning his role at Nebraska, Wilhelm, an award winning researcher who specializes in precision engineering, has been vice chancellor at University of North Carolina Charlotte since 2011. As a PhD student at Illinois, Wilhelm studied under Professor Placid Ferreira.
“I’m impressed by the way the University of Nebraska is connected with the state’s economy and the state’s progress. I look forward to the opportunity to work with the talented faculty and students at this wide-ranging and accomplished university,” he said.
